Matt Roberts received his Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance at the University of Central Florida where he studied with Jeff Moore, Kirk Gay, Thad Anderson, Bonnie Whiting and Morris Palter.
Matt has taught at various high schools around the Central Florida area including Timber Creek High School which won the Outstanding Percussion Award in 2008 at FMBC State Championships. In 2010 he taught the WGI Percussion Independent World group Timber Creek Independent.
Matt’s playing experience include the UCF Marching Knights, the Boston Crusaders (in 2005 and 2007 where he served as section leader of the front ensemble), and TCI where in 2008 and 2009 Matt served as the section leader for the front ensemble. He has held the principal position in the UCF Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and played in the UCF steel drum ensemble and percussion ensemble. In 2010 Matt travelled with fellow UCF students to Princeton University for the annual So Percussion Summer Institute. Later that year he helped premiere and record a new percussion quintet by Zach Browning. In 2012 he kept busy with trip to New York to play John Luther Adams Inuksuit, playing in the Orlando Accidental Music Festival, and with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra. Matt is currently living in Alaska and in the second year of his master’s degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
